Small Works Exhibition
The exhibition is always a highlight of the ASBA Annual Meeting & Conference. This year is no different. Come celebrate the non-juried Small Works Exhibition with your fellow artists, colleagues and guests. The exhibition will be open to the public during the ASBA Conference.
Two awards will be presented: the “Artist’s Choice Award,” which will be decided by votes from ASBA members attending the conference; and ASBA’s Anne Marie Carney Award. This is the first time this award will be presented: to an artist in a non-juried exhibition who has never been accepted previously in an ASBA juried exhibition.
Each registered attendee at the Conference may enter one (1) small work for the Small Works Exhibition. Artists must retrieve the artwork at the Conference on Saturday afternoon. Original packing material will not be available for taking artworks home; please bring any packaging material you may need for a safe trip home.
To Submit Your Work to the Small Works Exhibition
Jurors: This exhibition is non-juried.

Subject: Any botanical subject; one (1) submission only per registered conference attendee.
Medium: Two-dimensional original botanical art. No photography, no digitally generated work, and no three-dimensional works will be accepted.
Image size limitation: The maximum outside of the frame must be no larger than 9” (22.86 cm) in one dimension along the outside edge and no larger than 12” (30.48 cm) in the other dimension along the outside edge. Maximum outside dimensions of frame are 9” (22.86 cm) x 12” (30.48 cm) – no exceptions.
Entry Deadline (for both entry and for catalog art): August 1, 2011
Submission: Entry information must include: botanical name, common name (if you wish), medium and artist’s name and contact information. This same information must be on the back in the lower left hand corner. Send information
Catalog Art Submission Information: There will be a catalog printed for the Small Works Exhibition.
To have your Small Works included in this catalog, submit digital file of your image – 300 dpi, image 8" (20.32 cm) high, jpeg only – on CD labeled with artist's name and name of artwork in marker. Do not use paper labels or adhesive labels. Individual files on disk should be labeled with artwork title, size, and medium. CD will not be returned.

Presentation: L-profile “gallery” frame medium to light brown wood or gold wood (per ASBA standards) with white or off-white mat, Plexiglas glazing, wired for hanging. Works not meeting these standards will not be hung.
Artwork Delivery: All entries – no exceptions – must fit and be packed securely in a FedEx or US Postal Service Priority Mail Box (FedEx’s box for binders or large documents, approximately 12 x 13 x 2.5”, or US Mail Medium Flat Rate Priority Mail Box approximately 13 x 11 x 2 inches) with tracking, delivery confirmation and/or insurance, and must be shipped via 2-day FedEx service or a US Postal Service Priority Mail. You must ship to arrive between Monday, October 10 and Friday, October 14, 2011. Works bubble wrapped only, no Styrofoam peanuts. Works packed in peanuts will not be opened or hung. Shipping materials will not be retained.

Awards: A panel of jurors will give awards to selected artwork, and members will vote for a Members’ Choice Award. The Anne Marie Carney Award will be presented to a work by a member who has never had a piece in an ASBA juried exhibition.
Exhibition Catalogs
As you know, a high-quality, full color catalog is being prepared featuring over 100 artworks in the Small Works Exhibition. This exhibition is especially important because it is an opportunity for any conference registrant to participate and be included in a catalog.
Catalog Pre-Conference Orders Information
(for pick-up at the Annual ASBA Boston Conference):
The Small Works Exhibition Catalog is available for pre-order at a special price of $26.95 for those who are attending the Boston conference and will pick up their catalogs there. A few additional catalogs will be available for sale at the conference at the full price of $29.95. Additionally, print-on-demand catalogs will be available to those members who can't attend the conference. Details about ordering post-conference catalogs will be distributed after the conference in the December ASBA Journal.
