Registration in Holiday Inn, 8am–9:30am

Breakfast buffet at Holiday Inn, 7am–9am

Vendors, 8am–10:30am

Jesse Meyer of Pergamena will sell his own vellum and Top Notch Art Supply store will sell general artists’ supplies. If you wish to arrange any purchases to be picked up at the conference, please contact Jesse (vellum) or Steve Hnat (general artists’ supplies).

Portfolio Sharing, 8:30am–10:30am

Ever popular! Each artist who signs up has a table to display their work and share ideas with others who walk from table to table. We recommend that you stay at your table or share “table watching” duties with a neighbor so you can look at others’ portfolios. Or, don’t sign up for a table, and be free to view other artists’ work. Open to all as space permits, from beginners to advanced, who have registered for the conference. You must register to have a table space (see check-off box on registration form).

What's New in the Electronic World with Deb Shaw, 9:30am–10:15am

You, Too, Can Speak “Digital”: A Quick Primer

Botanical art is rooted in time-honored techniques, but we’re increasingly required to interact in a digital world, including submitting work for exhibitions. Learn the alphabet soup of digital file names (jpeg, gif, etc.), and their appropriate usage. A hand-out will be provided. Limit 32.

Exploring Giclee Printmaking with Alex Patho, Jr, 9:30am–10:15am

Giclee printmaking is the process of creating high quality reproduction prints from original works of art, using the latest archival digital printing technology. All aspects of Giclee printmaking will be discussed, including digital capture, paper selections, and longevity of prints and pricing. Limit 32.

General Membership Meeting & Luncheon, 11am–1pm

Extra time has been included so that you may share your ideas with ASBA’s Board of Directors. Your input is invited!

“Technique Showcase On Stage” presentations,
1:30pm-4:30pm

This new approach to Technique Showcase was a big success at the Guild of Asian Botanical Artists conference in Thailand. Three artists will demonstrate/discuss for about 40 minutes each on stage with close-ups of their techniques projected onto an 8-foot screen. You may sit comfortably and watch and will have time to ask questions. Moderated by Marilyn Garber, featured artists are Hunt 13 exhibitors Martin Allen (1:30 watercolor), Karen Bell-Brugger (2:30 graphite) and Billy Showell (3:30 watercolor).

Is My Work Saleable? with Susan Frei Nathan,
1:30pm-4:30pm

See your own work from the perspective of a successful art dealer. Susan specializes in placing contemporary botanical art in corporate and private collections. She will constructively review portfolios in a group setting where participants can learn from her comments. Must bring portfolio. Limit 12. Fee $50.

Painting Fall Fruits and Berries with Rose Pellicano,
1:30pm-4:30pm

Capturing the brilliant colors of fall fruits and berries in watercolor is the focus of this workshop. By demonstration and lecture, the student will take the steps to achieve a realistic portrayal of the subject with special attention to light and shade, accurate color mixing and composition. Limit 15. Fee $50.

Creating Textures in Watercolor with Catherine Watters,
1:30pm-4:30pm

Bring life to your botanical subjects by mastering their textures! You will observe a variety of textures such as hairy, woody, velvety, shiny, etc. and learn the techniques to successfully draw and paint them. Limit 15. Fee $50.
