8:30 am - 4:30 pm: Bus Trip: Exploring Boston’s Beacon Hill: Otis House and Nichols House Museums

Explore 19th-century Boston with visits to the homes of two prominent families and discover their Beacon Hill life and botanical art. Enjoy a walking tour of the North and South slopes of Beacon Hill, Boston Common and the Public Garden, and a private lunch at the charming restaurant that is the real “Cheers”! You’ll have time to stroll Charles Street and shop at the quaint shops or visit spots of interest nearby: the State House, Old Granary Burying Ground, Boston Athenaeum, and more. Limit 34. Silverpoint is a refined, delicate and traditional drawing technique using a silver stylus on prepared papers to achieve a lustrous silver line. Learn how to prepare papers with different grounds and experiment with other metals. Learn the drawing techniques to achieve rich, subtle drawings and try adding color for a different effect. Peaches, rhubarb, plums, and berries galore...and no, we’re not making a pie. The nice thing about fruits and vegetables is their various textures. By building up layers of watercolor to bring out form, then adding texture and detail with a dry brush technique, we can elaborate on our already naturally beautiful subjects. Limit 15. Explore the ancient medium of egg tempera while painting miniatures. Use egg tempera from a tube – no mixing of yolk, water & pigment – work on gessoed panels and ivorine. Learn the mixing and layering techniques of egg tempera to create a glowing miniature painting of our beautiful New England fall leaves, gourds or acorns. Limit 15. Fee: $135
