About the ASBA 14th Annual Meeting & Conference

This year the ASBA Annual Meeting and Conference will be held in two locations: at the Hilton Pasadena and The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in San Marino.

Buses will go between the two venues

You can plan a full day at either the Huntington or the Hilton, or mix AM and PM locations. A bus will go from the Hilton to the Huntington in the morning, make a round trip at lunchtime, and return from the Huntington to the Hilton at 4 PM. Please realize that you will lose some time midday in travel.

Lodging and Room Sharing

The ASBA has reserved a block of rooms for October 26 - November 2, 2008. This special room rate will be available until September 28 or until it has sold-out, whichever comes first. The block rate will be available through November 6 for members taking BAGSC post-conference classes (or staying later to explore Southern California).

Booking a room from our on-line site is simple

To begin, click on the "Hilton Reservations" link at the top of the page at any time. This will bring you to the Hilton's ASBA group registration site to receive the preferred rate.

Room Sharing

Elisabeth de Boor will help you find a roommate, a great way to save money and get to know another artist. Fill out the form to pair up with a roommate!

ASBA Small Works Exhibition

All registrants are eligible to participate in the ASBA Small Works Exhibition by following the guidelines on this site or in the Call for Entries in the ASBA newsletter.

Silent Auction Needs Your Donations!

Held prior to the banquet at the Annual Conference on Saturday, November 1st, the auction is fun and exciting. Last year it netted $20,000 which helps fund the ASBA Artist and Education Grants and supports the publication of The Botanical Artist. We encourage everyone to participate. Please donate items such as original artwork, contemporary or antique botanical art prints, books, cards, garden & art supplies, etc. Paintings and prints must be framed or matted, covered with acetate and should not exceed 16x20” in size. Cards and postcards should be boxed, bagged or tied with a ribbon in sets of 4 or more—we cannot accept single cards.

Please fill out the form, or contact Norma Sarkin, or Bonnie Born Ash. Include a description of your donation, value and whether you will be sending it ahead of the conference or bringing the item with you. Donations may be mailed to: Norma Sarkin, 2244 North Edgemont Street, Los Angeles, CA 90027. Plan to ship auction items to reach Norma by October 15th. Thank you for supporting your organization.
